Artist’s Statement
My work explores new possibilities through the fusion of two contrasting approaches. The intuitive and spontaneous act of layering textures originates from physical sensations, breathing life into the artwork through a tactile dialogue with materials. The subsequent color work proceeds in a meticulously planned and rational manner, adding narrative layers to the textures and completing the balance between physical action and mental reflection. These two contrasting yet complementary processes create tension and harmony within the work. Through this creative process, I investigate the meeting point where clear boundaries intersect with chaotic sensations. I document moments where control and spontaneity, order and chance coexist, embracing imperfection not as a mere deficiency but as a condition for the emergence of a new essence. The unpredictable nature of materials and the artist’s deliberate choices form a unique tension, transforming imperfection and serendipity into organic and inevitable elements of the work.
In this process, I revisit the boundaries shaped by color and pose the question: “Do boundaries truly exist? Is the location of these boundaries the best we can choose?” This inquiry leads to an exploration of whether embracing imperfection within the work genuinely liberates us or simply creates another form of constraint. I hope viewers, through the artwork, question the drawn boundaries and colors, discovering new standards and perspectives for themselves. In doing so, I aim to provide opportunities for an active reinterpretation of the boundaries between freedom and order, offering viewers a chance for profound reflection.
Ultimately, my work seeks to embrace imperfection and invites contemplation on the essence of humanity. It is not merely a finished result but a tool through which viewers can rediscover themselves and realize new possibilities. In this way, my practice captures both a personal and universal journey of exploration, continually evolving through interaction and generating new meanings.
